Hey Balwanth Movie Review: Comedy clicks, drama trips.

By TeluguFunda / February 20, 2026

Storyline:

Krishna (Suhas), a young post-graduate in business management, grows up watching his father (Naresh) work tirelessly in their family business. While Krishna aspires to take over and prove himself, his father insists that he find a job elsewhere. Determined to establish his credibility, Krishna joins an NGO run by Mithra (Shivani Nagaram) as a business consultant and eventually falls in love with her.

Just when life seems to be settling into place, his father suffers a heart attack and is advised complete bed rest. Krishna steps in to manage the family business. What follows is a journey filled with humor, emotional moments, and challenges that test Krishna’s capability, responsibility, and understanding of his father’s profession. The nature of the family business and how Mithra’s family becomes connected to it form the crux of the narrative.

Positives:

Several genuinely entertaining comedy sequences

Sudarshan’s impeccable comic timing

Clean humor with minimal cringe moments

A few impactful and emotionally resonant dialogues

Decent performances by Suhas and Shivani Nagaram

Negatives:

Unexciting and predictable drama

Abrupt tonal shift from comedy to heavy social message

Clichéd narration in the second half

Melodrama in the third act

Slow-paced and bland execution towards the climax

Technicalities:

Vivek Sagar’s music is adequate, with two decent songs and a passable background score. Mahi Reddy Pandugula’s cinematography suits the film’s scale and maintains a neat visual tone. Editing by Viplav Nysdam could have been sharper, especially in the second half where the drama feels stretched. Production values by Trishul Visionary Studios are decent and appropriate for the film’s genre. Director Gopi Atchara handles comedy portions effectively but falters while blending drama and social messaging, leading to an inconsistent narrative flow.

Rating : 2.5/5

Final Verdict:

Hey Balwanth works in parts thanks to its comedy and a few well-written dialogues. However, the weak and clichéd drama in the latter half prevents it from becoming a fully satisfying theatrical experience.
