Veteran Tamil actor and stunt master Ponnambalam once again shared the life-changing help he received from Megastar Chiranjeevi during his toughest days. While recalling his health struggles and financial troubles, Ponnambalam revealed that he expected only about Rs 1 lakh from Chiranjeevi but instead received help worth nearly Rs 1 crore.

Chiranjeevi Acts Instantly in a Crisis

A few years ago, Ponnambalam battled a serious kidney-related illness. His financial situation collapsed, and he desperately needed medical treatment. He contacted Chiranjeevi through a mutual friend, hoping for some monetary support. Chiranjeevi called him within ten minutes and asked if he could come to Hyderabad for treatment. When Ponnambalam explained that he couldn’t travel, Chiranjeevi immediately arranged his admission to a top hospital in Chennai and promised to cover all expenses.

Chiranjeevi Pays Entire Medical Bill

The treatment cost around Rs 45 lakh, and Chiranjeevi personally paid the entire amount. Ponnambalam said that Upasana Konidela, Chiranjeevi’s daughter-in-law, personally monitored his treatment and ensured he received the best care. Chiranjeevi didn’t stop there, he continued to help Ponnambalam financially over time, and the total support reached nearly Rs 1 crore.

Chiranjeevi Helped Him Earlier Too

This act of kindness wasn’t the first time Chiranjeevi supported him. In 2021, Chiranjeevi donated Rs 2 lakh for Ponnambalam’s kidney transplant surgery. At the time, Ponnambalam publicly thanked him and said he would never forget the gesture. Now, after recovering from his illness, Ponnambalam makes sure to speak about Chiranjeevi’s generosity whenever he gets the chance.

Chiranjeevi has built a reputation as one of the most generous figures in the film industry. He often steps in to support fellow actors and workers in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided financial aid to numerous industry members. For Ponnambalam, who has acted in over 1,500 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, Chiranjeevi’s help went far beyond money, it gave him a second chance at life.
