Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited historical action film Hari Hara Veera Mallu – Part 1: Sword vs Spirit will hit theaters on July 24, 2025. The film recently cleared a major hurdle when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted it a U/A certificate. Director A.M. Jyothi Krishna helms this ambitious project, which runs for 2 hours and 42 minutes (162 minutes).
Censor Report: What Got Cut and Why
CBFC members raised objections to five key scenes, and the filmmakers agreed to remove or modify them. The board objected to the portrayal of Kuli Kutubshah, the visual depiction of idols during a voice-over, a torture scene involving a pregnant woman, and a scene where a character kicks open a temple door. The team trimmed or changed these scenes to meet the guidelines. After making these changes, the team secured censor clearance for the film.
Film Overview: Sword vs Spirit
The story unfolds in the 17th-century Mughal era, focusing on Veera Mallu, a warrior who rebels against the empire. Pawan Kalyan leads the film as Veera Mallu, with Nidhhi Agerwal playing Panchami. Bobby Deol portrays Aurangzeb, and Vikramjeet Virk plays Mirza Khan.
The makers started production in 2020, but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Pawan Kalyan’s political duties. Now, the team is accelerating promotions, with a new song release and a grand pre-release event on the way.
High-End Visual Effects & Massive Budget
The film team heavily focused on VFX, creating over 6,000 visual effects shots. They shot the entire movie in animation first using previsualization technology, then filmed live-action scenes based on that blueprint. The makers spent around Rs 340 crore on this project, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
Pan-India Release
The film will release in five major Indian languages, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, delivering a true pan-India cinematic experience. Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani composed the music, enriching the film’s emotional and epic tone.
