Government of Telangana Releases GO for Akhanda 2 with New Welfare Condition

By TeluguFunda / December 4, 2025

Akhanda 2 is undeniably one of the most eagerly anticipated Telugu releases of the season. Featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead and helmed by mass director Boyapati Srinu, the film marks the duo’s fourth collaboration. With premiere shows around the corner, excitement is at an all-time high. Adding to the buzz, the Telangana government has now issued a special GO allowing a hike in ticket prices.

As per the order, a special premiere show will be held in Nizam at 8 PM, with tickets priced at ₹600 inclusive of GST. Additionally, the government has approved a price hike of ₹50 for single screens and ₹100 for multiplexes for the next three days starting tomorrow.

Some trade circles feel the GO could have been released earlier, giving the team more time to build hype around the premieres. Nevertheless, the approval has brought relief to fans, especially since Akhanda 2 will now release simultaneously in both Telugu states. Earlier, there were concerns that Andhra Pradesh might begin early shows ahead of Telangana, potentially causing mixed and divided talk. With the synchronized release, that worry is now eliminated.

With the premiere decision finalised, the makers are expecting strong turnout for the early shows. If the initial response is positive, the film is poised for a solid opening weekend.

A Twist in the GO: Mandatory Welfare Contribution

The real surprise comes from a new directive embedded within the government order. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed that a portion of the revenue generated through the increased ticket prices must be allocated to the Movie Artists Association’s welfare fund.

Accordingly, the GO states:
“All theatre managements screening this movie at the enhanced ticket rates are directed to compulsorily contribute 20% of the incremental revenue earned from the movie to the Movie Artists’ Welfare Association account, to support film industry workers.”

This clause has sparked mixed reactions. While many believe it could be a much-needed support system for numerous workers in the film industry, others question mandatory contribution. How well this move will be received and whether it genuinely benefits its intended recipients will become clearer in the coming days.

Akhanda 2 now heads into its release with heightened anticipation, a government-backed ticket hike, and an unexpected welfare twist that has set the industry talking.
