Gopichand Teams Up with Ghazi Director Sankalp Reddy for a Unique Telugu Film

After delivering the critically acclaimed Ghazi (2017), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu, Sankalp Reddy has been working on diverse projects. Following his second outing, the space adventure Antariksham 9000 KMPH (2018), which underperformed at the box office, and his Hindi debut IB71 (2023) with Vidyut Jammwal, Reddy is now set to return to Telugu cinema.

Gopichand Takes the Lead

Sankalp Reddy has reportedly secured the nod of actor Gopichand for his next project. While specific details about the genre are still under wraps, sources suggest it will be a realistic story—a refreshing shift for Gopichand, who is eager to explore meaningful content. Known for films like Yagnam, Okkadunnadu, and Sahasam, Gopichand hopes this collaboration will mark a much-needed hit in his career after a string of underwhelming releases.

Producer and Current Progress

The project will be bankrolled by Srinivasaa Chitturi under the Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner, marking their second collaboration with Gopichand after the moderately successful Seetimaarr. The script is currently in progress, and the team is taking its time to ensure the story resonates with audiences.

Gopichand’s Recent Films

Gopichand’s last release, Viswam (2024), directed by Sreenu Vaitla, failed to impress viewers with its convoluted narrative. Another 2024 film, Bhimaa, a fantasy action thriller directed by A. Harsha, was released on Maha Shivaratri but also received negative reviews and struggled at the box office.
