Goosebumps Guaranteed Knock by Glenn Maxwell: ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup

Afghanistan vs NewZealand cricket match

Match 39, Afghanistan vs Australia at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium is no less than an S S Rajamouli tollywood movie plot. There is an engaging beginning with the Afghans scoring 291 against the Aussies, there is a twist with Aussie Batsmen crumbling for 97-1, and there is drama around the stadium watching mighty Australia begging for mercy from the Afghans.

It all reminded the audience of an epic blockbuster Indian movies where heroes emerge from the worst situations and dire necessities. Madmax Maxwell stood silently for the most part watching other fellow strong batsmen falling cheaply and returning with fallen heads. Maxwell stayed calm, calm, and even more calm for the first 25 overs of the match with only Cummins at the other end entirely watching Maxwell helpless.

The crowd in the stadium, the viewers on the TV sets, the commentators, the entire Aussie squad, the overwhelmed Afghan team, and the entire world watching this game came to the conclusion that Australia would be defeated for the first time against the Afghans.

But only the madman knew all his calmness was about to burst into a “Toofan” and he released the kraken upon the sleepy Afghans in the field who were assuming that they already won the game.

Maxi before the 25th over took all the blows and left all the balls leaning into a position where there was nothing else in front of him except winning the game for Australia.

Jesus Christ it’s where all the hell went loose, so does the Maxi with the only capable batter Cummins at the other end. Starting with Mujeeb he started his rampage leaving him with 72 runs from 8.5 overs, choosing Mohamad Nabi his next target with 20 runs from 2 overs that scared Nabi and the Afghan Captain he never came to bowl there after.

Then came the cramps in the back and legs, Maxi screaming in pain and rolling on the ground laying with pain where again everyone thought Maxi was retired hurt. BUT NO! Again Maxi took out his Sword… sorry bat and began his war… sorry game.

He controlled the run rate taking singles at the end of the over and taking strike entering the 47th over of the match nearing his Double Century. 6,6,4 and a final nail in the coffin with a Six for Mujeeb, Mighty Maxwell finished the game for the Australians with a winning war cry.

There may be many Double Centuries in the cricketing world. What Maxi had made in this match in critical situations, with fewer wickets, with all the body sore, and with all the embarrassment that the entire world is ready to make, this is not one of the best 200 in the cricket world.

But this is the one and only “THE BEST 200” in the history of cricket. The people who watched this epic heroic battle will remember it for the rest of their lives and will tell tales about the hero for a long time.
