Tollywood is one industry that holds grand pre-release events attended by thousands of cheering fans. Most of the pre-release events of big-ticket movies have been taking place in outdoor venues for the past many years.
The pre-release event of ‘Devara’, however, was planned to be an indoor one. Apparently, the makers of the film didn’t choose a venue like LB Stadium or the Yousufguda Grounds because weather reports had warned of heavy rains.
The event, however, was messed up to the core. The number of fans who gathered outside the venue was three or even four times the capacity. The police couldn’t decline them an entry because too many of them were holding passes. Technically, they were entitled for an entry.
It’s said that the police had decided to withdraw permission for the event by evening. But the organizers made the cancellation official two hours later.
The whole experience should be a wake-up call for the Telugu film industry, whose producers and actors rely on such public events to build pre-release hype. Event organizers have to be strictly instructed to print a limited number of passes.
‘Devara’ will arrive at the cinemas on September 27th.
