Fans of the Drishyam franchise have big news to celebrate. Mohanlal has officially started filming for Drishyam 3. The team began the shoot with a traditional pooja ceremony at SN Law College in Poothotta, near Kochi. Director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor lead the project, which follows Georgekutty’s life four and a half years after the events of Drishyam 2.
The makers confirmed that the shoot will finish in around 55 days and plan to release the film in March 2026. They will launch the Malayalam version first and then release the Hindi version to continue the franchise’s pan-India reach.
Mohanlal Shares Excitement Over Drishyam 3
Mohanlal posted pictures from the pooja ceremony on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Bringing Georgekutty’s world alive once again. Today marks the beginning of Drishyam 3 with the Pooja.” His post quickly created massive buzz among fans.
He spoke to reporters and said Georgekutty’s journey will again surprise viewers with twists, but he chose not to reveal more. He also expressed joy about receiving Indian cinema’s highest honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. Mohanlal said he will travel to New Delhi to accept the award after the film’s launch event.
What to Expect from Drishyam 3
Director Jeethu Joseph explained that Drishyam 3 will deliver a different tone compared to the earlier films. The first two films kept audiences on the edge of their seats with suspenseful thrillers, but this part will focus on a family drama. He said the story will explore how Georgekutty’s family changed over the past four years. The law college location adds a strong hint that legal issues will play a major role in the plot.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor added that the team decided to make the sequel after several discussions. He said the audience’s love for the first two films convinced them that Georgekutty’s story still had more to tell.
Massive Expectations for Drishyam 3
The Drishyam franchise transformed Malayalam cinema and inspired remakes in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Sinhala, Mandarin and Korean. Mohanlal’s national award win added to the excitement and raised expectations even higher.
Fans across India and abroad now wait eagerly to watch Georgekutty’s next chapter when the film hits theatres in March 2026.
