Dil Raju Breaks Silence on Making Dil 2 with Nithiin, But There’s a Twist

Ace Telugu film producer Dil Raju has finally addressed a question that fans have been asking for years, Will there ever be a sequel to the 2003 blockbuster Dil? In a recent promotional interview for his upcoming film Thammudu, Nithiin asked Dil Raju whether he plans to make Dil 2. Raju gave an interesting answer: “I will make Dil 2 only if Nithiin plays both father and son.” This unexpected twist has sparked major buzz among fans and media circles.

Thammudu Reunites Nithiin and Dil Raju After Years

Dil didn’t just become another film, it marked the beginning of Dil Raju’s career as a producer. In fact, that film earned him the famous title, “Dil” Raju. The film also helped Nithiin become a household name after he made his debut with Jayam in 2002. Now, after over two decades, they have teamed up again for Thammudu, which Venu Sriram directs and Dil Raju produces. The film hits theatres on July 4, 2025.

Dil Raju’s Honest Take on Nithiin’s Career

During the chat, Raju recalled that while he produced Dil as his first film, Nithiin had already entered the industry with Jayam in 2002. Raju openly stated that back then, he considered both Nithiin and Allu Arjun (from Arya) as future stars of Telugu cinema. However, he admitted that while Allu Arjun reached superstardom, Nithiin didn’t match those expectations.

He further said that Nithiin still hasn’t unlocked his full potential, even though he possesses both talent and experience. When Nithiin asked if Thammudu could finally take him to the next level, Raju answered, “It might make you a successful hero again, but it won’t be enough.”
