Dhurandhar is emerging as one of the most talked-about Hindi films of the season, and its newly released trailer only amplifies that buzz. Led by Ranveer Singh, the film promises a gritty, unfiltered portrayal rooted in real events. The trailer introduces its key characters through intensely graphic visuals, hinting at a large-scale, violent narrative.
Arjun Rampal takes on the role of Major Iqbal, an ISI agent, and his introduction comes with a disturbing amount of brutality. R. Madhavan appears as Ajay Sanyal, a character inspired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, while Akshaye Khanna steps into the shoes of Rehman Dakai. Sanjay Dutt plays SP Chaudhary Aslam, adding more weight to an already powerful cast. The story unfolds against a tense India–Pakistan backdrop.
The film is widely believed to be based on the extraordinary life of Major Mohit Sharma, who operated undercover as Iftikhar and infiltrated the Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s. Dhurandhar marks director Aditya Dhar’s comeback six years after his acclaimed debut, Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The trailer dives straight into high-octane action, though it does lean on familiar Bollywood patriotic tropes. Still, the film’s massive ensemble and the buzz it carries are expected to translate into strong box-office traction. The action choreography appears to be the film’s core strength, with thrilling elements that could stand out.
However, the extremely graphic gore may limit its appeal among family audiences. Even so, R. Madhavan’s striking and unconventional look is already grabbing attention.
Dhurandhar storms into theatres on December 5.
