Popular producer and leading exhibitor Daggubati Suresh Babu has been elected as the new president of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC). His Progressive Panel registered a clear victory over the rival Mana Panel in the elections held on Sunday.

Along with Suresh Babu’s appointment, Ashok Kumar has been elected as the new secretary, while noted producer Surya Devara Nag Vamshi will serve as one of the vice presidents, alongside Bharat Chowdary.

The elections witnessed a keen contest between two major panels that vied for various posts across multiple sectors, including producers, exhibitors, distributors, and studios. The Progressive Panel, led by Suresh Babu, featured several prominent industry figures such as Dil Raju, Allu Arvind, KS Rama Rao, Y. Ravi Shankar, Swapna Dutt, among others. The Mana Panel was spearheaded by Chadalavada Srinivas, C Kalyan, YVS Chowdary, Prasanna Kumar, and others.

As per Film Chamber rules, the presidency this year was reserved for the exhibitors’ sector, making Suresh Babu eligible to contest. He went on to secure a decisive majority, sealing his win.

Prior to the presidential election, chairpersons for all four sectors were chosen, and 44 executive committee members from different groups were elected. Of these, 31 members belong to the Progressive Panel, while 17 members represent the Mana Panel.

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce currently has 3,355 registered members. However, only 43 percent of the electorate participated in the voting process, with 1,421 votes being cast. Notably, several prominent heroes who are also producers did not exercise their voting rights.

The newly elected panel will steer the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce until 2027.
