Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Issues Stern Warning Over IndiGo Crisis in Parliament

The past week has been extremely frustrating for Indian air travelers as the ongoing IndiGo crisis pushed the country’s aviation system into near paralysis. With thousands of flights cancelled without prior notice, passengers across India faced massive inconvenience. The chaos also led to a sudden spike in airfares by other airlines, further intensifying public outrage.

Addressing the situation in the Rajya Sabha, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu delivered a sharp and firm statement, assuring the nation that the government is taking the matter very seriously.

Expressing deep regret over the ordeal faced by passengers, the Minister said,
“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. Nearly five lakh PNRs were cancelled within just two to three days. A total of ₹569 crore was refunded to passengers promptly.”

He emphasized that strict action would be taken against the responsible airline and individuals, stating that the punishment would be severe enough to deter any airline from committing such lapses in the future.

It is evident from his address that the Civil Aviation Minister is visibly displeased with the events of the past week. He made it clear that the government intends to set a strong precedent, ensuring that any airline violating rules or causing such disruption will face strong consequences.
