‘Chuttamalle’ from ‘Devara’ has been received with reservations by listeners. Some have alleged Anirudh Ravichander of rehashing a tune from a Sri Lankan song. Others have opined that the frames are too artificial and glossy. While the dance moves hint at a raw romantic mood, the visuals are too decorative. The lyrics have been penned by Ramajogayya Sastry, while Shilpa Rao has sung the song. The dance choreography is by Bosco Martis.
Director Koratala Siva should have imagined the song as a fast-paced one. Think of ‘Cheliya Cheliya’ from Venkatesh’s ‘Gharshana’, or even the ‘Aafat’ song from ‘Liger’. Tarak and Janhvi Kapoor would have looked amazing in such a dance number.
Koratala Siva is known for songs where the dance moves are dull and slow-paced. ‘Bhale Bhale Banjara’ from ‘Acharya’ was totally unsuited for the image of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Siva is the only star director who could have spoiled a song featuring a legend and his son. But then, such is life.
‘Devara’ is going to arrive at the cinemas on September 27th, 2024.
