On September 15th, dance choreographer Jani Master was booked by the Hyderabad police under IPC sections dealing with rape, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt. The celebrity was finally arrested today (September 19th).
The arrest was made by a Special Operation Team from Cyberabad. He was believed to have absconded to Ladakh, a false news amplified by certain unverified media reports.
The Telangana State Women’s Commission has assured the victim, a budding choreographer, of all help. As per TV reports, her statement was recorded for 30 minutes. Jani Master faces serious accusations. He has also been booked under certain provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, considering that the victim was a minor when Jani first harassed her, allegedly.

Jani Master is the President of the Telugu Film and TV Dancers and Dance Directors Association. He has been stripped of his authority in the wake of the accusations. Jana Sena Party suspended him, debarring him from getting involved in party activities.
Recently, Jani Master won a National Award for the song ‘Megam Karukkatha’ from the Tamil movie ‘Thiruchitrambalam’.
