GHMC officials failed to respond clearly, which forced him to approach the High Court for help.

Old Pending Issue Complicated the Matter

An earlier unresolved matter made the situation more complex. In 2002, Chiranjeevi got permission to construct a G+2 residential building. Later, in 2016, he made some structural changes and filed an application under the Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS). GHMC ignored that application and kept the file pending for years. Ironically, GHMC approved the construction of a retaining wall in 2017 but didn’t clear the earlier regularisation request. This contradiction created confusion.

High Court Slams GHMC Over Delay

During the hearing, Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy strongly questioned GHMC officials about their delay. He criticized them for ignoring legal applications while turning a blind eye to illegal constructions across the city. The judge ordered the GHMC Commissioner to personally review Chiranjeevi’s request, send a notice if necessary, and issue a final order as per the law.

Thanks to the court’s strong stance, Chiranjeevi finally received some relief. GHMC assured the court that they would process his application according to the rules.
