World Cup 2027: India Face Australia, Pakistan in a Blockbuster Opening Week

The schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup has been announced, and India are set for a challenging start to their campaign. With Australia and Pakistan lined up within the first three matches, Indian cricket fans have plenty to look forward to right from the opening week.

The 2027 World Cup will be hosted across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the tournament scheduled to take place from October 2 to November 21.

India have been placed in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and one qualifier. Their campaign begins on October 7, when they take on Australia in Cape Town.

Just three days later, India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in Johannesburg on October 10. The high-profile clash is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the group stage.

India will then take on Afghanistan on October 14 in Tshwane, followed by a match against a qualifier on October 17 in Bloemfontein. The Men in Blue will complete their group-stage campaign against Zimbabwe on October 24 in Victoria Falls.

The 2027 ODI World Cup will feature 14 teams and 57 matches. The tournament will follow a revamped format, with teams progressing through the Super Series, Group Stage and Super 7 stages before the knockout matches.

India have been designated A1 for the Super 7 stage. If they progress to that stage, they will face teams from the other group as part of the next phase of the competition.

The semi-finals are scheduled for November 17 and 18, while the World Cup final will be played on November 21 in Johannesburg.

With Australia as their opening opponent and Pakistan arriving just three days later, India’s 2027 World Cup campaign promises a blockbuster start, setting the stage for plenty of excitement even before the knockout rounds begin.

iPhone Users, Big Payment Update: Apple Pay Is Now Available in India

Apple Pay has finally made its debut in India after a long wait, giving iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users a new way to make contactless payments. Apple has entered India’s digital payments space with its popular tap-to-pay service, offering another option alongside the country’s widely used UPI and banking apps.

The launch comes at a time when digital payments continue to evolve rapidly in India, with users and businesses closely following changes in payment rules, convenience and charges. With Apple Pay now available, Apple users can make payments using compatible devices instead of carrying their physical credit cards.

Apple Pay Launches in India With Axis Bank

For its initial rollout in India, Apple has partnered with Axis Bank. Eligible Axis Bank customers can currently add supported Visa and Mastercard credit cards to Apple Pay.

The service is available on supported iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch models. Apple has also confirmed that Mac support will be introduced in India soon.

How Does Apple Pay Work?

Apple Pay uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to enable contactless payments. Users can simply bring their compatible Apple device close to an NFC-enabled point-of-sale (POS) terminal to complete a transaction.

According to Apple, users do not need to enter a PIN or OTP at checkout for these tap-to-pay transactions. The payment can be completed by authenticating the transaction on the Apple device and tapping it on a compatible payment terminal.

Is Apple Pay Safe?

Apple says it does not store the actual card number on the device or on its servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned to the card and encrypted before being stored in the device’s Secure Element.

The actual card number is not shared with merchants during transactions. Apple also says it does not retain transaction information that can be traced back to the user.

How to Add an Axis Bank Card to Apple Pay?

Eligible Axis Bank customers can add their supported Visa or Mastercard credit cards through the latest Axis Bank app.

Users can also open the Apple Wallet app, tap the “+” option and follow the on-screen instructions to add an eligible card.

With Apple Pay now available in India, Apple users have another contactless payment option that combines their existing credit cards with the convenience of supported Apple devices.
