Buzz: Madhavan Joins Mahesh Babu’s SSMB29 in a Key Role

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film SSMB29, directed by SS Rajamouli, continues to create massive buzz even before it gets an official title. The latest exciting update reveals that Tamil actor R. Madhavan has joined the star-studded cast. Madhavan will play a powerful and pivotal character in this action-packed adventure. The team initially aimed to release the film in late 2026, but production delays have pushed expectations. Now, trade experts believe that SSMB29 may only release in the second half of 2027.

Inspired by Indiana Jones and Mythology

SSMB29 brings together mythological elements and global adventure, drawing inspiration from Wilbur Smith’s novels and the legend of Lord Hanuman. Rajamouli has crafted a story where Mahesh Babu plays an explorer-style role, much like Indiana Jones.

The story takes place partly in the holy city of Kashi, and the production team is building grand sets in Hyderabad to recreate it. They have already shot major scenes in Odisha, using high-end visuals and action sequences to elevate the film’s scale.

Nana Patekar Turned Down the Role

Earlier, the makers offered veteran actor Nana Patekar the role of Mahesh Babu’s father. Rajamouli personally visited him in Pune and narrated the script. Despite receiving an offer of Rs 20 crore for just 15 days of work, Patekar turned it down, stating that the role didn’t excite him. However, he expressed interest in working with Rajamouli on a future project.

Huge Budget and Musical Backbone

KL Narayana is producing the film with a massive budget of Rs 1000 crore. Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani is handling both the music and background score, adding strong musical depth to the film.

With Madhavan’s entry and Rajamouli’s storytelling magic, SSMB29 is shaping up to be India’s most awaited adventure film. Fans across the globe eagerly await Mahesh Babu’s bold new avatar in this cinematic spectacle.
