Netflix India’s highly anticipated horror-fantasy web series, Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom, has hit a major roadblock due to financial mismanagement. A budget scam involving the executive producer has led to a halt in production, raising serious concerns about the project’s future.
Budget Misuse Sparks Investigation
The series, directed by Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve and starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi, began shooting in September 2024. However, only 26 days of filming have been completed so far. Shockingly, half of the total budget has already been spent, with Rs 2-3 crore allegedly embezzled.
Netflix and production company D2R Films have launched an internal investigation to uncover the financial discrepancies. Reports suggest that the executive producer was granted unchecked authority over finances, including signing cheques and withdrawing funds. This individual has allegedly committed similar financial misconduct in past projects.
Creative Issues Add to Delays
Apart from financial troubles, creative disagreements have also disrupted production. Director Rahi Anil Barve has been making script changes on set, causing delays and inflating costs. While Netflix initially gave the team full creative freedom, the lack of a finalized script has created tension between the streaming giant and the filmmakers.
Future of Rakt Brahmand Remains Uncertain
With the budget scam under investigation and creative disagreements unresolved, the future of Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom remains uncertain. While Netflix is willing to invest heavily in the project, concerns over mismanaged funds and uncontrolled spending could lead to significant changes in production.
Fans eagerly awaiting this horror-fantasy series are now left wondering whether Rakt Brahmand will continue as planned or face an indefinite delay. Netflix has yet to make an official statement regarding the next steps.
