By TeluguFunda / August 8, 2025

The much-awaited showdown between Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2: Thandavam and Pawan Kalyan’s OG is officially on. The makers ended weeks of speculation about a possible postponement and confirmed the September 25 release date.

They made the announcement right after Balakrishna completed dubbing for his role. The production house 14 Reels Plus shared a photo of Balakrishna with director Boyapati Sreenu in the dubbing suite and described the film as “a 4X blockbuster in the making.”

Post-Production in Full Swing

The Akhanda 2 team is racing to complete all remaining tasks. They are carrying out CG work, re-recording, and final touches simultaneously. They plan to finish all pending work by the end of this month. The team will prepare the first copy within three weeks and launch promotions soon to boost excitement for the Dussehra release.

Cast and Crew Details

The action-packed entertainer stars Pragya Jaiswal and Samyukta Menon as the female leads. Aadhi Pinisetty plays the antagonist. Harshaali Malhotra, the child star from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, makes her Tollywood debut as Janani.

S. Thaman composes the music, continuing his successful run with Balakrishna’s films. C. Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detake handle cinematography, Tammiraju leads editing, and A.S. Prakash manages art direction. Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta produce the film, while M Tejaswini Nandamuri presents it under the 14 Reels Plus banner.

High-Intensity Action and Exotic Locations

The teaser, which the team released for Balakrishna’s birthday earlier this year, showcased his fierce divine avatar alongside Lord Shiva’s mount Nandi and the powerful Trishul. It featured massive fight sequences choreographed by stunt masters Ram-Lakshman. The crew filmed major portions in Georgia and at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, bringing grandeur to the visuals.

The Dussehra Box Office Battle

Akhanda 2: Thandavam marks the fourth collaboration between Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu after three earlier blockbusters. With the September 25 release locked, the film will go head-to-head with Pawan Kalyan’s OG, directed by Sujeeth. Fans now eagerly await to see which big-ticket entertainer will dominate the Dussehra box office.
