Baahubali: The Eternal War – Visually Spectacular, but Does It Add Enough?

By TeluguFunda / November 5, 2025

A decade after Baahubali reshaped Indian cinema and set new global benchmarks, the saga continues to expand its mythic universe. The makers of the franchise, after revisiting the epic through The Epic (a compilation of both chapters), have now unveiled a brand-new chapter Baahubali: The Eternal War, an ambitious animated extension of the legendary tale.

On Tuesday, SS Rajamouli launched the first teaser of Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1, directed by Ishan Shukla, known for acclaimed animated projects like Star Wars: Visions, Schrikoa, and Kalki. The teaser marks the grand return of Amarendra Baahubali in a larger-than-life animated avatar, filled with breathtaking visuals and intense action.

The two-minute glimpse opens with the powerful voice of Sivagami (Ramya Krishna), declaring that Baahubali’s death is not the end, but the dawn of another era one that thrusts him into an epic confrontation between devas and asuras. The visuals then shift to a fierce battle between Vishasura and Indra, culminating in Baahubali’s heroic entry atop a chariot, ready to take on the divine forces.

Visually, the teaser is nothing short of spectacular a testament to top-notch animation and technical brilliance. Yet, beneath the grandeur lies a lingering question: does this story truly expand the Baahubali legacy, or is it an attempt to ride the franchise’s massive popularity amid the rising demand for animated films?

With the recent success of Kannada animation hit Mahavatar Narasimha, there’s clear evidence of an audience eager for mythological animation done right. If Baahubali: The Eternal War manages to blend its stunning visuals with compelling storytelling, it could very well set new benchmarks in the genre.

Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 is slated for release in 2027.
