Anirudh’s Tune Fatigue: Too Many Notes, Not Enough Magic?

Anirudh's Tune Fatigue: Too Many Notes, Not Enough Magic?

Lately, Anirudh Ravichander has been criticized for sounding repetitive. His background scores for big-ticket movies have retained their charm. However, his songs have increasingly started showing signs of deterioration in quality. The star composer, who allegedly charges Rs 10 Cr as fee per movie, has spoken of work overload.

Anirudh has been quoted as saying that he is scheduled to compose 50 songs in the next 10 months. That’s five songs per month.

In today’s demanding times, this is quite a task. Yes, there was a time when the likes of Maestro Ilaiyaraja used to compose two dozen songs in a month. But that was in the past, when sounding repetitive didn’t entail much scrutiny. In fact, it was seen as leaving your mark on your work.

Anirudh has been accepting movies in both Tamil and Telugu, left, right and centre. In Telugu, he is already doing Vijay Deverakonda’s 12th movie and Gowtam Tinnanuri’s musical romance, ‘Magic’. He will also work on ‘Devara 2’. And he might also do Nani-Odela’s second movie. In Tamil, he is doing ‘Coolie’, ‘Vidaa Muyarchi’, ‘Indian 3’, and Thalapathy Vijay’s last movie, among others.
