As the Telugu states celebrate the auspicious harvest festival of Sankranthi, the makers of an upcoming biographical film have unveiled a vibrant and nostalgic first-look poster. Titled Andhrula Annapurna: Dokka Seethamma, the film brings to the big screen the inspiring life story of one of Andhra Pradesh’s most respected social reformers.
A Sankranthi-Themed First Look
Released under the banner of Usha Rani Movies and presented by Sonti Nagaraju, the poster beautifully captures the essence of rural Andhra culture. Set against warm golden hues, the visual showcases a traditional village gathering, perfectly reflecting the festive atmosphere of Sankranthi.
At the heart of the poster, the lead characters portraying Dokka Seethamma and her husband are seen seated with folded hands in a humble namaste. Surrounding them are villagers men, women, and children—dressed in authentic traditional attire, ranging from elegant silk sarees to simple cotton dhotis. Decorative marigold garlands, glowing brass lamps, coconuts, and ritual plates filled with turmeric and kumkum enhance the cultural richness of the frame.
The greeting “Sankranthi Subhakankshalu” displayed at the top neatly ties the spirit of the festival with the film’s core theme of food, gratitude, and compassion.
Reviving a Legacy of Selfless Service
The title Andhrula Annapurna meaning The Annapurna of Andhra is a fitting tribute to Dokka Seethamma (1841–1909), a revered Hindu saint and social reformer from Mandapeta. She dedicated her entire life to Annadanam, feeding the poor, travelers, and the needy without discrimination. Her extraordinary compassion earned admiration not only from the local populace but also from British rulers during her time.
Releasing the first-look poster during Sankranthi a festival deeply associated with harvest, food, and gratitude adds symbolic depth to the project. It highlights the film’s strong cultural roots in the Godavari region and its focus on timeless humanitarian values.
