Anasuya Apologises to Raasi Over Past Remarks

By TeluguFunda / January 6, 2026

Popular anchor and actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has issued a public apology to senior actress Raasi over remarks she made during a television show three years ago. The issue resurfaced recently after an old video clip went viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism.

In the clip, Anasuya was seen making double-meaning comments while referring to Raasi using the phrase “Raasi Phalalu.” At a time when Anasuya has been actively speaking out about women’s dignity and self-respect, netizens questioned the contrast between her current stance and her past comments. As the clip gained traction, Raasi responded, stating that Anasuya’s manner of addressing her despite having no personal connection had hurt her deeply.

Following the backlash and renewed trolling, Anasuya addressed the issue directly through a post on Instagram, offering an unconditional apology to Raasi. She admitted that the comments made during the show were a mistake and took responsibility for her actions.

In her statement, Anasuya wrote that three years ago, due to her limited command over the Telugu language at the time, lines containing double meanings were delivered through her character. She acknowledged that she should have questioned the show’s director and the script then itself, but felt she did not have the strength or authority to do so at that point in her career. Calling it a clear mistake, she requested Raasi to accept her apology.

Anasuya further explained that people evolve over time and emphasised that this personal growth was the reason she later openly condemned double-meaning dialogues and eventually walked out of the show. She also alleged that a hate campaign was being run against her for speaking strongly about women’s safety and dignity, and said that such reports were being used to shame her. Regardless of whether the show’s makers apologised or not, she said it was her moral responsibility to admit her mistake and apologise personally to Raasi.

While many appreciated Anasuya for owning up to her actions, some critics argued that blaming language barriers was not a sufficient justification for making inappropriate remarks. Meanwhile, the larger controversy triggered by actor Shivaji’s comments on actresses’ dressing sense continues to dominate discussions, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
