Allu Arjun Mourns as Grandmother Allu Kanakaratnam Dies at 94

A wave of grief struck the Allu family after the death of Allu Kanakaratnam, grandmother of Allu Arjun and wife of legendary actor Padma Shri Allu Ramalingaiah. She died in the early hours of Saturday at 1:45 AM in Hyderabad due to age-related health issues. She was 94 years old.

Condolences from Tollywood

Soon after the news spread, celebrities and fans from the Telugu film industry expressed their condolences to the family. Relatives and colleagues visited producer Allu Aravind, her son, to console him. Megastar Chiranjeevi, her son-in-law, supervised all arrangements at Allu Aravind’s residence in Hyderabad. The family kept her body there from 9 AM onwards so relatives and well-wishers could pay their respects.

Final Rites in Kokapet

The family will perform the last rites of Allu Kanakaratnam this afternoon at Kokapet. Her grandsons Allu Arjun and Ram Charan rushed from Mumbai and Mysore to Hyderabad after hearing the news. Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu, who attended a public meeting in Visakhapatnam, will land in Hyderabad on Sunday to join the rituals.

Her Life and Family Legacy

Allu Kanakaratnam played a key role as the matriarch of one of Telugu cinema’s most powerful families. Along with her husband Allu Ramalingaiah, she raised three children. Her son Allu Aravind became a top producer, while her daughter Surekha married Chiranjeevi, creating a strong bond between the Allu and Konidela families. Her grandchildren, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Allu Sirish, Allu Bobby, and Sushmita Konidela, now carry forward her family’s legacy in films and production.

After Ramalingaiah’s death in 2004, Kanakaratnam chose to live a private life. She made one of her rare public appearances during the centenary celebrations of Allu Ramalingaiah, when the family launched Allu Studios in Hyderabad. A heartwarming video of Allu Aravind escorting her onto the stage, while Allu Arjun honored her, went viral and deeply moved fans.

Her death closed a chapter in the Allu-Konidela family history. Film personalities and fans now mourn her loss and remember her as the guiding force of a family that continues to shape Telugu cinema.
