Akhil Akkineni’s ‘Lenin’ Faces Fresh Delay as Team Opts for Reshoots

Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited film “Lenin” appears to be heading toward another postponement. The movie, which was officially slated for release on June 26, is now expected to miss its announced date following reports of fresh reshoots.

The project, jointly produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Naga Vamsi, has already experienced multiple delays during its lengthy production journey. Despite the makers repeatedly expressing confidence about the June release, the latest developments suggest that the film is not yet ready for its theatrical debut.

According to industry reports, the team recently identified certain portions that required reworking and has decided to reshoot them. What has surprised many is that this decision reportedly came just a couple of weeks before the planned release date, making a last-minute postponement almost unavoidable.

The repeated changes in release schedules have once again highlighted a common trend in the Telugu film industry, where films are announced with firm release dates and promotional campaigns begin, only for the dates to be pushed back later.

Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, who previously delivered Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha (2023), “Lenin” is said to be a rural romantic drama. The film stars Akhil Akkineni as a village youth who falls in love with a young woman played by Bhagyashri Borse. Music for the film is being composed by Thaman.

With the fresh round of reshoots underway, the makers are now expected to target a July release, although an official announcement regarding the new release date is yet to be made.
