Akhanda 2 Release Pushed to December, Makers Avoid Clash with Pawan Kalyan’s OG

Fans of Nandamuri Balakrishna have eagerly waited for his next big outing, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam. The sequel to the blockbuster Akhanda was originally set to hit screens on September 25, 2025, clashing with Pawan Kalyan’s OG. However, Balakrishna officially confirmed that the film will not release in September as planned. He announced that it will hit screens in the first week of December 2025, and the team will reveal the exact date soon.

Balakrishna Explains the Delay

Speaking to the media in his hometown Nimmakuru, Balayya clarified that the team delayed the release to maintain top-notch quality. He said that music director S. Thaman asked for extra time to complete the film’s background score, as the sound design and scale of the sequel exceed the first part. Balayya promised fans that Akhanda 2 will deliver an experience “50 times bigger” than the original. He stressed that the team refuses to rush and compromise on quality.

Strategic Move to Avoid Box Office Clash

Industry sources confirmed that the team also took a strategic decision to avoid a box office clash. With Pawan Kalyan’s OG releasing on September 25, the makers decided to move Akhanda 2 to a safer date to protect both films’ collections. Balayya, who shares a good rapport with Pawan Kalyan, supported this decision. The team is also considering Sankranti 2026 if they cannot meet the December deadline, with January 13, 2026, emerging as a possible release date.

Cast and Production Details

Director Boyapati Sreenu continues the powerful mass action saga that fans loved in the first film. The movie features Samyuktha as the female lead and Aadhi Pinisetty as the main antagonist. Pragya Jaiswal, Harshaali Malhotra, Ayyappa P. Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, and Shamna Kasim play crucial roles. Raam Achanta and Gopinath Achanta produce the film on a massive scale under the 14 Reels Plus banner, and M Tejaswini Nandamuri proudly presents it.
