Nandamuri Balakrishna has officially announced the much-anticipated sequel to his 1991 sci-fi blockbuster Aditya 369. Directed by the legendary Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Aditya 369 became a milestone in Telugu cinema with its unique time-travel storyline. After decades of fan speculation, Balakrishna revealed that the sequel, titled Aditya 999 Max, is in the works and will feature his son, Nandamuri Mokshagna Teja, in the lead role.
Release Timeline and Balakrishna’s Involvement
The announcement was made on Balakrishna’s popular talk show, Unstoppable with NBK. He shared that the script is being carefully developed to meet high audience expectations. Balakrishna, deeply involved in the project, stated that if all goes as planned, Aditya 999 Max could release in 2025.
He also delighted fans by appearing in a costume reminiscent of his iconic role from Aditya 369 during an episode of Unstoppable. Though the costume represented an older version of the character, it sparked excitement among fans. This special episode, featuring actors Naveen Polishetty and Sreeleela, will air on December 6, 2024.

Released on July 18, 1991, Aditya 369 revolved around time travel, with Balakrishna and actress Mohini in lead roles. The plot followed a thrilling journey through the past and future, highlighting the challenges faced by the protagonist. The movie was completed in 110 days with a then-staggering budget of ₹1.52 crore. Its unique concept and execution made it a box-office hit and a classic in Balakrishna’s career.
Passing the Torch to Mokshagna
This sequel marks a significant milestone for Balakrishna as he transitions his son Mokshagna into the spotlight. Fans eagerly await how the Aditya 369 legacy will evolve in Aditya 999 Max. Balakrishna assured viewers that the sequel would blend nostalgia with fresh storytelling.
