Natural Star Nani’s The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela, arrived with huge expectations after creating strong pre-release buzz. The film attempts to deliver a gritty, larger-than-life mass action drama with a powerful social backdrop. While the scale, action blocks and Nani’s performance make an impression, the routine writing and underwhelming second half prevent the film from reaching its potential.
Storyline
Set against the backdrop of an oppressed tribe called Savaari, The Paradise follows a community that continues to struggle for recognition and identity even after India’s independence. The people live under the ruthless rule of Shikanja Malik (Mohan Babu).
Jadal (Nani) rises against the oppressive system and takes on Shikanja Malik in his fight to secure an identity and better future for his people. The story unfolds through a chapter-based narrative filled with violence, political references and mass action.
Positives
- Nani delivers a sincere and committed performance as Jadal. His physical transformation and intensity in the action sequences deserve appreciation.
- The film has been mounted on a grand scale, and the production values are clearly visible.

Production values are excellent, with the makers clearly investing heavily in creating a larger-than-life world.
However, the same level of attention was needed for the story and screenplay. The film had the visual scale to make a strong impact, but the writing falls short of matching that ambition.
