A major industrial accident at the Vizag Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh has claimed the lives of at least eight workers, raising fresh concerns over safety standards in heavy industries.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred in the SMS-2 and STC-3 sections of the plant when a ladle carrying molten steel reportedly exploded, triggering a devastating fire. The explosion created panic across the facility and led to severe damage in the affected area.
Initial reports suggest that a crane transporting the molten steel lost control and collapsed onto workers operating below. The intense heat and flames left the victims with no chance of survival, resulting in their immediate deaths. The incident has been described as one of the most horrific industrial accidents witnessed at the steel plant in recent years.
Emergency response teams rushed to the spot, while authorities launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. The accident once again highlights the growing number of industrial safety incidents reported in Andhra Pradesh in recent months.
The state government has reacted swiftly to the tragedy. Home Minister Anita Vangalapudi expressed grief over the loss of lives and assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation. An official announcement regarding compensation for the families of the deceased workers is expected soon.
