15 Feared Dead as Private Bus Plunges into Gorge in Alluri District, Andhra Pradesh

In a tragic incident early Friday, a private bus carrying 30 passengers reportedly fell into a gorge on the Chintur–Maredemalli Ghat road in Alluri district, Andhra Pradesh. Preliminary reports indicate that at least 15 people are feared dead, while rescue operations are ongoing to save the remaining passengers.

The bus, owned by a private travel agency from Chittoor district, was en route to Maredemalli via Chintur when it lost control near Rajugari Mettu. Sources confirmed that the passengers were on a devotional trip to Annavaram after completing darshan at Bhadrachalam temple, and all victims are believed to be residents of Chittoor district.

Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help and immediately alerted the police and ambulance services. Injured passengers have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are continuing rescue operations, and further details, including the exact number of casualties, are expected to be released soon.
