The Ernakulam Central Police in Kerala are actively monitoring actor Honey Rose‘s social media accounts after she filed a complaint about sexually-loaded derogatory comments on her posts. Honey Rose visited the police station on January 6, 2025, to give her statement regarding the matter.
Arrest and Case Details
So far, the police have arrested one of the 30 individuals named in her complaint. The arrested person, Shaji (60), a resident of Kumbalam, was released on interim bail on Monday. The court has directed him to appear again on Tuesday.
The case has been registered under two non-bailable sections
Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (sexual harassment)
Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material online).
Police sources stated that they are working to retrieve the deleted comments. They assured immediate action against any further offensive remarks targeting the actor on her social media.
Honey Rose’s Response
After Shaji’s arrest, Honey Rose posted a strong message on Facebook. She declared her fight against sexual innuendos on behalf of all women facing similar harassment online. She clarified that her public appearances always adhere to Indian legal norms.
“I am not responsible for anyone creating their own legal rules based on their thoughts,” she wrote. Honey Rose added that while she welcomes fun or creative criticism about her looks, she will not tolerate sexually inappropriate remarks.
She pledged to use all legal provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita to act against offenders.
AMMA Stands in Support
The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) condemned the attacks on Honey Rose and extended full support to her.
In a previous post, Honey Rose revealed that a person had been stalking her after she refused an invitation to attend certain events. This individual later appeared at events she attended and made disrespectful remarks toward women.
It was these actions and comments that led Honey Rose to lodge her police complaint.
The investigation continues as the police intensify their efforts to ensure justice for the actor.
