'Keeda Cola': Director Tarun Bhaskar

Young and talented director Tarun Bhaskar Dasyam, who has received all the accolades with the blockbuster hits ‘Pelli Chooplu’ and ‘Ee Nagariki Emindi’, is coming up with his third film, a unique crime comedy movie ‘Keeda Kola’. This film is being made as production number 1 under the VG Cinema banner and is being produced by K. Vivek Sudhanshu, Saikrishna Gadwal, Srinivas Kaushik, and Sripad. The trailer of this film presented by hero Rana Daggubati has raised the expectations of the film. Director Tarun Bhaskar Dasyam shared the details of the film at the press conference of Keeda Cola, which is set to release worldwide on November 3.

When and how did the idea of ’Keda Cola’ come about?

I found the lockdown very comical knowing that many people are making money in various innovative ways. There is no manhole cover on the road. Someone is selling iron goods to him. I wanted to cast him in films (laughs). If asked what are the ways to earn more.. Friends said that they can earn money even by filing a case that there is a worm in the food. This is a very interesting discussion. But this is all crime. But from a distance, it is a comedy. Every crime is a comedy from a distance. It is also my favorite genre. From there the idea of Keda Cola came.

This is my favorite genre since childhood. My all-time favorite is MoneyMoney. I like Brahmanandam’s role in it. I also like Jigarthanda and Sudukavvam films. Romantic comedies are a boring subject for me. Along with me, my friends also like crime comedies. Now the crime comedy dream has come true with the film.

Received the National Award for his first film!!!

Words like ‘responsibility’ carry a lot of weight. It got a little heavy after the National Award. (Laughs) Let’s put that weight aside and we did ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emindi’. This movie has added more weight. (smiling)

They presented paint to Brahmanandam,Tell me about it?

Why did he want to paint and present it? The muzzle is slightly crooked. Turn it crooked and show the painting. He looked crooked. I asked how it was. He said, ‘It is like my face.’ Did he curse? Are you flattered? I don’t understand till today. (Laughs) He is a wonderful painter. I was gifted a painting of Hanuman.

Your films are close to reality,How is Keedakola?

Compared to the previous two films, I have taken cinematic liberty in this one. Everything is logical in wedding looks. There is a lot of cinematic freedom in Keedakola like gunshots and blasts.

Movies have an impact on the society, don’t they!!How responsible do you design stories in this regard?

It must be said that movies have an impact on society. I am responsible for the characters in my stories. What happened to this city is about the character of Vivek. In the end he gives up medicine for friendship. I don’t want to give a message.. I try to say what I want to say.

Tell us about the selection of Keida Cola actors?

We can proudly say that we have auditioned all the actors in this. Jeevan, Vishnu.. We have chosen everyone as audience.

And Brahmanandam garu and Raghugaru who acted in this are ideal actors for me. Raghugaru Roadies has a badass character. The same has to be done in this so natural has come.

Was there an inspiration for Brahmanandangari’s character?

My grandfather was the inspiration for Brahmanandangari’s character. My grandfather is a good friend of mine. He is a very fun character. I thought it would be better if Brahmanandam played that role. He did amazingly. Everyone will definitely enjoy it.

They are very confident about Keeda Koala, They say that they laugh even with the visuals. How did they get this much confidence?

Everyone enjoyed the preview in Mumbai. They laughed comfortably while watching the movie. We are laughing with unique writing and making. It is sure that the audience will feel that Paisa Vasool.

Tourette’s syndrome was given to Vastu’s character, didn’t you want to convey any message through it?

If there is any disability, I don’t talk about it in a protective way. My idea is to empower them. This is the underlying message.

Which of the characters you play are closest to you?

I see a lot of myself in every character. But when Naidu played the role in this, I felt that the burden in me was reduced. I experienced that. I saw myself in the role of Naidu.

A Chinese doll is seen in the trailer. What is its background?

I know a medical representative. He put a simulator in the car and went to the wedding. At exactly the same time, the police stopped the car and asked what the simulator was. So it had to show its performance on the road itself. Seeing that, the couple canceled the match. It seemed like a very interesting event. It was inspired.

What is your mindset when writing characters?

Writing taught us to look at life from every angle. It is necessary to go into each role and think. There is a humanity in every character when thought deeply. Cinema, life,If there is sympathy in both of these, life will be even better. I believe that people will change with the characters shown in the movie.

Chaitanya is shown more in the poster. Is this the hero?

There are eight characters in total. I and our writing team bet who will be the hero in it. Who will the audience call the hero? It’s a very interesting game. (Laughs)

This is your first film under your direction, Can you consider yourself a hero?

In that case, I will only put my photo (laughing) but Naidu is my favorite among the characters I have written.

The length of the movie is only two hours, isn’t it?

Yes.. it took two hours and twenty minutes even when it was written and taken out. Trimmed fifteen minutes. The crime comedy nature is crisp. The narrative continues to run. KeydaCola is also fast-paced and unique.

Wasn’t a film planned with Venkatesh in the past?

Yes. That movie is there. Suresh Babu asked to proceed. But I took more time for the story. I am ready now.

Preparations are also underway for a web series.
