Manda Krishna Madiga, the prominent Telugu Dalit leader, has iterated that it is time for private sector quotas in India in view of the increasing opportunities in the non-government sector. His concern seems to be social justice for SCs although his agitation could find support from STs, too.
The demand comes just a day after the Supreme Court ordered the states to make moves to carry out the sub-categorization of the Scheduled Castes. It had been a long-standing demand of Krishna.
Krishna led the agitation demanding the sub-categorization of SC reservation after founding Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS). The movement went on for decades. He impressed upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to argue in favor of it.
