The much-awaited film Kubera, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 20, 2025. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film has generated high expectations, especially with its unique storyline and powerful cast. The announcement was made on Maha Shivaratri, an important occasion, and it has further excited fans as Dhanush is known to be a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
A Story of Power, Wealth, and Fate
Kubera follows the journey of a man rising from extreme poverty to great power. Set in Dharavi, one of Asia’s largest slums, the film explores themes of greed, ambition, and redemption. Industry reports suggest that Dhanush plays a beggar who transforms into a mafia king, while Nagarjuna is rumored to be an investigating officer. However, official confirmation on these character details is still awaited.
The film has been shot in Tirupati, Thailand, and Mumbai, ensuring a visually rich experience. The title, Kubera, refers to the Hindu god of wealth, hinting at a gripping story of power struggles and destiny.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew
Apart from Dhanush and Nagarjuna, the film features Rashmika Mandanna in a crucial role. Jim Sarbh, known for his intense performances, also plays a key character. The movie is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt. Ltd.
On the technical front, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) is composing the music. His recent success with Thandel has fans eager for another memorable soundtrack. The film’s cinematography is handled by Niketh Bommi, while Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre are the production designers. Chaithanya Pingali has co-written the film, and the costumes have been designed by Kavya Sriram and Poorvaa Jain.
Dhanush’s Busy Lineup
Before Kubera, Dhanush directed and released Nilavukku En Mel Ennaadi Kobam on February 21, 2025. Despite its bold storytelling, it struggled at the box office. However, Dhanush is undeterred and is set to release his next directorial project, Idli Kadai, on April 10, 2025. The film is expected to face strong competition from Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly at the box office.
