Storyline:

Prathap, a wealthy young man, goes against his father’s wishes to marry his love, Bujjamma. Their marriage begins happily, but things take a strange turn when Bujjamma leaves her in-laws, revealing that Prathap suffers from a serious health condition during sleep. As questions arise about the nature of his problem and why it was hidden for so long, the story unfolds around whether the couple overcomes this challenge and reunites.

Positives:

Thiruveer delivers a sincere performance, especially in innocent and emotional moments. His chemistry with Ajay Ghosh brings a few entertaining scenes in the first half. Ajay Ghosh stands out with his natural acting and generates decent humor through his frustration-filled character. Some light-hearted moments help keep the first half engaging to an extent.

Negatives:

The core conflict lacks convincing writing, particularly the heroine’s decision to hide the truth, which weakens the emotional depth. The second half turns dull as the film leans heavily on drama that fails to connect. Several scenes lack logic and impact, making the narrative feel stretched. The hero’s health issue, which is central to the plot, isn’t explored in enough detail, reducing its effectiveness.

Technicalities:

Starring: Thiruveer, Ajay Ghosh, Raasi, Payal Radhakrishna, Devi Prasad, Goparaju Ramana, Ravi Anthony, Raghu Babu, Prasad Behra, Basha
Director: S.P. Durga Naresh
Producers: Gaddam Rakesh Reddy, Rudradev Madhi Reddy

The music by K.M. Radha Krishna and background score are average. Cinematography by Vishweshwar S.V is decent and supports the village setting well. Editing by Anwar Ali is a drawback, especially in the second half where pacing becomes sluggish. Production values are adequate.

Rating: 2.75/5

Final Verdict:

“Papam Prathap” is an average village drama that offers a few laughs but struggles to deliver a strong emotional impact. While performances by Thiruveer and Ajay Ghosh are commendable, weak writing and a dragging second half hold the film back from reaching its full potential.
